Hadi Bahmani, A Teenage Worker, Killed in Khuzestan Protests

Hadi Bahmani, 17, was killed on Tuesday night, July 20, 2021, during demonstrations in Izeh. Bahmani was a teenager from the village of Susan in the city of Izeh. He had come to Izeh as a seasonal worker.

Since July 15, widespread protests began in various Arab majority towns and cities in Khuzestan and quickly spread to other regions in the province. Security forces have killed and injured dozens of protesters. There are several reasons for the unrest, including a water shortage, poverty, and discrimination. The protests have spread to Ahvaz, Susangard, Izeh, Dezful, Behbahan, Mahshahr, Abadan, and many other cities in Khuzestan province.
